I heard somewhere that if you put fleas in a jar and put the lid on it, the fleas will jump and hit the lid.
After some time the fleas will learn not to jump as high, and thus not hit the lid of the jar.
I’ve had bouts of depression throughout my life. I even had one idiot therapist tell me I should be depressed because I live my life in a wheelchair.
While I agree that chasing happiness is definitely overrated and a fools errand; depression is not the natural state of man. We can and we should always strive to do better than strive for depression.
I’ve been told that you have to believe something is possible before you can make it happen. And while that’s mostly true, or seems true, there have to be times in the history of human experience when people started on a journey unsure of the outcome.
I know some will call that FAITH. FAITH: Belief without concrete evidence.
The thing is belief is just a thought you accept as true whether axiomatically or through conditioning.
There has to be a way we can choose what we believe.
